IMBA Curriculum
Program Overview
The International Business MBA (International Program) offers two (2) options: a thesis option plan (Plan A) and a non-thesis option plan (Plan B).
PLAN A: Thesis Option
Students who study under Plan A must earned the cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (form 4.0 grading system) following to the curriculum requirements of 39 credits that include:
- Required Courses at least of 21 credits
- Major Elective Courses at least of 6 credits
- Thesis writing at least of 12 credits
Students must also pass the Basic Foundation courses and English courses.
PLAN B: Non Thesis Option
Students who study under Plan B must earned the cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (form 4.0 grading system) following to the curriculum requirements of 39 credits that include:
- Required Courses at least of 21 credits
- Major Elective Courses at least of 12 credits
- Elective Course at least of 3 credits
- Independent Study at least of 3 credits
Students must also pass the Basic Foundation courses and English courses.
Course Structure
English Language Courses
All students must take and pass the English Courses on a non-credit (P/NP).
Business Foundation Courses
In order to provide the basic knowledge to students with no business knowledge in their undergraduate studies, basic foundation courses in principles of management, economics and marketing, and basic financial accounting are to be conducted, and as required by the admission panel. Students must pass the non-credit courses (P/NP).
Required Courses
All students must take 27 credits of the following required coursework.
Major Elective Courses
Students who choose Plan A must complete 3 credits and Students who choose Plan B must complete 12 credits from the major elective courses.
THESIS DEFENSE for students who choose Study Plan A
Students who study under Plan A must present their Master Thesis and arrange for publication in a national/international recognized academic journal with prior screening of external committee, or present a portion or entire Master Thesis in a national/international academic conference that has proceeding report.
Written and Oral Comprehensive Examinations for students who choose Study Plan B
Written Comprehensive Exam
- Students must complete and pass every required courses in the curriculum (Except BA797 Independent Study which can be continued later on) and earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (from 4.0 grading system)
- Students must follow the schedule and attend the Written Comprehensive Exam organized by the MBA faculty.
Oral Comprehensive Exam
- Students must complete and pass every required course in the curriculum and earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0
- Students must pass the Written Comprehensive Exam to be qualified for the Oral Comprehensive Exam.
- Students must follow the schedule and attend the Oral Comprehensive Exam organized by the MBA faculty.
CRITERIA FOR COMPLETION
- Students must pass all required coursed in the curriculum and earn at least 42 credits.
- Students must earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.
- Students must pass both the Written Comprehensive Exam and the Oral Comprehensive Exam.
- Students must complete all processes within 5 academic years from the first day of registration.
- Students must ensure satisfactory financial status, including payment of all tuition and fees, status maintenance fee, and any other cost in accordance with Payap University regulations.
